Amazon sets sights on food delivery
Amazon's jounrney into the foodservice industry began with their acquisition of Whole Foodsearlier this year. Now, they're continuing their takeover of the food industry from another angle. The e-commerce giant announced a partnership with Olo, an online food ordering company, just last week.
This isn't Amazon's first attempt at getting into delivery. Amazon Restaurants never caught steam, and largely went unnoticed by Amazon's customers. However, this partnership with Olo could give the company access to a network of over 200 restaurant brands and about 40,000 locations.
Over 60 million consumers use Olo to order ahead. Olo's major clients include: Applebee’s, Chili’s, Chipotle, Denny’s, Five Guys, Jamba Juice, Shake Shack, Noodles & Company, Red Robin, Sweetgreen, and Wing Stop. Amazon recently purchased Whole Foods Market for $13.7 billion.

Restaurants are starting to prioritize digital communication
Restaurants are constantly changing their menu items and promotions while jumping through FDA regulation hoops. Digital communication allows restaurants to quickly and easily change or tweak content in real-time.
Over the past several years, we've seen great strides in technology integration in restaurants such as digital menus, table-side tablets, mobile applications and more.
With the quick integration of technologies into restaurants over the past several years, this future is here. Software companies like BlueCart exist to serve restaurants in the hospitality space. By offering mobile purchasing, inventory management, and the ability to check-in orders, BlueCart aims to usher in an age of efficient communication where chefs and restaurants managers don't need to take inventory and place orders with the help of pen and paper.
